Do you think studies in emotional intelligence are valid? Defend your answer.

You are the chief of police. Your agency and federal law enforcement disrupted a bombing of a school by a radical fringe group. It comes to light that your officers violated the wiretap law in your state. The information from the wiretap identified the location, date, and time the bomb was to detonate. Print, radio, and television media descends on your city and demands that you defend the actions of your investigators. Realizing that your investigators saved lives would you discipline them? Defend your position.

Collaboration is an important aspect of management. You are a chief of police and your city manager is interested in flattening city government. He asks you to prepare a presentation to city council on merging police and fire supervisory and managerial responsibilities. Present two pro and con arguments for the concept.
