Chapter 5 discussion Question

1. Do a little legal research. The topic is, Freedom from cruel and unusual punishment. Please research the topic area of legal rights (how it developed, where is currently stands and where the legal experts expect it to go in the future) and discuss all of the legal elements and arguments related to that category of inmate legal rights in a FULLY CITED DISCUSSION. The explain, whether – in your opinion – the rights discussed in your response go too far, not far enough, or are just about right.  Fully explain your position.  

2. Research, detail and describe the elements of the Prison Litigation Reform Act (PLRA) passed by Congress in 1996 (cite all sources).  In your opinion, based on your research, has the PLRA had a positive or negative effect on prison conditions in the Unites States?  What is the potential long term impact of the PLRA on corrections in the U.S.?
