The First Amendment specifically articulates our freedom of expression, and uses very broad language to describe our right to express ourselves. However, there are some restrictions to free expression, defined over time by the courts as “time, place and manner” requirements.

Identify more than one criminal statute that limits the First Amendment right to freedom of expression in your state. List the elements of the offense and describe a fact pattern that would demonstrate a violation of the statute. Finally, provide rationale for or against the First Amendment restriction.
