Write a brief (2 to 3 short paragraphs) application message that is designed to accompany your résumé. Assume you are submitting your résumé by email and the instructions state that you should not submit a cover letter.  (Your submission should be in email form, though on a Word document.  You should not include a cover page).

        Remember these guidelines:

The message is placed on top of the résumé so it can be read first by the employer.

The message should gain the recipient’s attention, provide evidence of your qualifications for the position, be professional and appropriate for the position, and encourage action by the recipient.

Use contemporary language; Avoid writer-focused statements; Avoid unconvincing generalizations.

Tailor your message to the employer’s need; Focus on strengths and portray a positive attitude. Communicate knowledge about the company or agency and job requirements.

Make sure your application message is error free.
