Mrs. Doe has been informed that she has a terminal condition and is given six to twelve months to live. She is immediately distraught and crying uncontrollably. Her physician leaves the room and you remain in the room with Mrs. Doe. She begins to ask you a multitude of questions regarding her condition and what she will experience as she nears her final days.

Write a 300 – 500 word essay about the dying process and the legal and ethical considerations that might be confronted. Answer the following:

• Should the healthcare provider intervene in the dying process and if so how?
• Are there ethical concerns that should be considered in treating the dying patient?
