Petition for an Appeal: Explorer Air v. Pat Greene

Cases for an appeal can vary based on the jurisdiction. Researching the grounds for an appeal can be tricky and the resourceful paralegal should be able to determine the proper grounds. Westlaw® is a valuable asset when researching these grounds.

Your client, Pat Greene, loses at the hearing. Your attorney asks you to analyze whether or not to appeal the decision. Research relevant Illinois statutes and case law and draft an internal memo to answer the question. Remember to include an analysis of the defendant’s possible defenses and likelihood of success.

Whether or not your recommendation is to appeal, draft a petition for an appeal that you can submit to a court of competent jurisdiction. Remember to include documents such as certificates of service and appearance forms.
